Manuscript Consultant

Marian Haddad, MFA is a manuscript consultant, as well. A number of poets and writers on whose manuscripts she has consulted have gone on to publish their collections and/or have won poetry prizes for their collections or for various pieces; some have won poetry contests judged by reputable and nationally recognized organizations.

Marian Haddad uses various approaches for manuscript consultations. Most of the poets and writers with whom she works are out-of-town and out-of-state. She offers two methods of consultation. One method is the personal, one-on-one consultation, via phone and/or internet, a personal workshop, per se. Another method is for the poet/writer to mail her a paper copy of their manuscript which she edits in three reads. The third read includes an ordering of the poems or essays, if they are poems and essays. In addition and often, suggestions are made to the poets/writers with whom she works as to journals or anthologies or contests which might welcome particular pieces. She has been successful, also, in placing manuscripts in the hands of small publishers and university publishers who have accepted the manuscripts in consideration. Three full-length collections of poems and essays, currently, are forthcoming in Fall and Spring of 2006.

Whether you are interested in having Marian Haddad consult on a full-length manuscript, on a series of poems or memoirs/essays or pieces of fiction or non-fiction, or whether you prefer her to consult on a small number of poems or a series of poems, she will tailor a specific plan for your purposes, to meet your needs.

To inquire about manuscript consultations and manuscript consultation fees, please e-mail Marian Haddad at haddadmarian@aol.com. The initial inquiry and consultation or review of possibilities to fit your needs usually lasts thirty minutes to an hour, and the initial consultation is free of charge. Initial consultations take place via telephone, being that most of her clients are from various states across the nation. If you live in the vicinity of San Antonio, Texas, you have the option of a meeting in her office or holding the initial consultation via phone. Also, she is open to the needs of the poet/writer, inasmuch as dictating the course taken on the manuscript.
